Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy

Professional Association of Christian Counsellors & Psychotherapists

EFT is an attachment science-based approach to therapy that offers an integration of humanistic, experiential, and systemic interventions focused on reshaping intrapsychic experience and patterns of engagement with significant others.

This workshop will offer participants an introduction to the theory and practice of EFT, with a specific focus on understanding the impact of trauma and core models of health and dysfunction from an attachment perspective, the primacy of emotion and the key macro- (Tango) and micro-interventions. Video session review with related commentary will be used to demonstrate these interventions and the change process as applied to couple therapy, with the therapeutic aim of harnessing the power of the relationship as a resource in transforming trauma and moving clients toward a felt sense of security with self and others.

Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy & Trauma

Caribbean EFT Community

This introductory workshop focuses on Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) as it applies to working with individuals struggling with the potential impacts of trauma. Attachment science and the EFIT model offer a map that simplifies how we view and frame clients’ presenting concerns, and how we intervene across the three-stage therapy process.

This workshop will provide an introduction to: the attachment frame for understanding health and resilience, and the potential impacts of trauma; the application of a C.A.R.E. (i.e., Context, Attachment, Relationship/therapeutic alliance, Emotion) frame for tuning in and staying attuned with attention to these four dimensions at therapy outset and throughout the therapy process; and the EFIT Tango – the key set of interventions used to propel growth in every session!
